Expanded Learning
Program Description
Our program focuses on academics, enrichment, and wellness activities to benefit the whole child. Expanded Learning offers options to meet our families' needs, whether before, after, on school's out days for parent/teacher conferences, or early dismissals. Expanded Learning is a safe, fun, and engaging environment providing youth with homework help, a healthy snack, free play, and structured activities that explore culture, art, science, engineering, technology, music, dance, sports, and more!
We provide programming for youth in grades K-8 at our Family Resource Center [FRC]. The FRC is designed with youth in mind and has a gym, playground, green space, and dedicated spaces for youth to learn, explore, and grow.
Staff
The staff in our programs are individuals passionate about working with youth. Staff participates in many hours of training throughout the school year and are certified in First Aid & CPR to help ensure safety and consistency. We believe in supporting all children as they develop skills in academics and their social, emotional, and behavioral growth.
To be eligible to attend Expanded Learning programs, all young people must be able to use the bathroom independently. We expect all youth and staff to contribute to a safe environment for all, with or without reasonable accommodations. At the minimum, children are expected to follow routines and instructions, stay with their assigned group, and keep their hands to themselves. This program is only successful when all youth work cooperatively in a group setting, demonstrating positive behaviors that display kindness, acceptance, and respect for themselves and others. This program is a license-exempt childcare center through DCFS and is not regulated by the Department of Child and Family Services of Illinois.
All registration applications must be approved by the office prior to enrollment, and parents/guardians will receive communications via email regarding any and all registration/enrollment information.
